I decided what better way to go into my 30s than jumping out of a plane. After discovering Amanda and some daredevil friends wanted to join, we possied up for some debauchery at Skydive Snohomish. Our jump on my actual day of birth was canceled due to rain/overcast, but we got to go the following week. It was a great experience, and I’d recommend it to anyone interested. I hope you enjoy the video.

We decided to head out for a camp session at Hobuck on the Olympic Peninsula the weekend of July 26th, 2013. The waves were small and fun. They cleaned up great at specific times of the day. Sups, kayaks and surfboards were sporadic along the beach. Laughter could be heard from children playing, campfires crackling […]
I went to Whidbey Island for the Memorial Day weekend. This was my first time on Whidbey and it was quite enjoyable, even with the rain.
The weekend started out right with an epic surf day at Westport. Rob and I enjoyed beers on the rocks after our morning session. I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable on my board.
We departed on the Mukilteo ferry late Friday evening after surfing for the day at Westport. By doing so, we avoided the huge ferry lines. Shane’s beard got some photo love with the beautiful horizon beyond.
The ferry ride is quite short. Arriving in Whidbey Island the surrounding terminal area seems much more chill than that of the San Juan island ferries. Whidbey doesn’t seem to be as touristy as the San Juan’s or even Bainbridge.
We spent the weekend at our friend’s parents place. They recently purchased it and moved to Whidbey. The land had a horse farm among other small animals. We shot BB guns, went clamming, full dipped in the hot tub, drank many beers and cooked a lot of food.
We also spent some time checking out Fort Casey. This was a first for me, but as I’m told, many people who grew up in Seattle took several school trips there. There are stunning views of the Puget Sound from all over Fort Casey. While enjoying the views you can hear the children screaming from the halls of the dark, abandoned Fort.
I took a trip to Colombia (April 25th, 2013 – May 5th, 2013) with some good friends this year. We stayed at an amazing place we rented in Cartagena for the first half of the trip. For the second half we flew to San Andres island where we stayed at our friend’s family vacation home. It was a much needed taste of paradise.
There’s a new show on YouTube called American Hipster Presents. I stumbled upon the Linda Derschang episode last night. They’re well produced videos about a community I love so much. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
Linda Derschang – American Hipster Presents #35 (Seattle – Social Life)
If you’re from Seattle I’m sure a lot of you know of Linda’s in Capitol Hill. Take a peek into Seattle’s night life with Linda Derschang, owner of Linda’s and others.
We went all over the mountain in this video. The cat track jumping at the end was especially fun.

Snowboarding in the backcountry @ Stevens Pass – February 19th, 2011
We had a great day building a kicker in the backcountry of Stevens Pass.

Snowboarding @ Grand Targhee Resort – March 6th, 2011
We had a great first day snowboarding in Wyoming at Grand Targhee Resort. We hiked Mary’s Nipple a couple of times and had a lot of fun all over the resort.

Snowboarding in the backcountry @ Jackson Hole – March 9th, 2011 (extended cut)
We spent the day with backcountry guide Brendan Burns. Awesome guy and great guide. We rode No Shadows/Cody Bowl, Four Pines, Rock Springs, Green River, & Split Rock. (This is the extended cut with footage from the whole day)
Music: “Silver Screen” by the Beat Connection “Take Me In” – Wild Nothing “What a Pleasure” – Beach Fossils “New Theory” – Washed Out
Our friend Brendan was in from Philly. We had a great day on the mountain. Chris, Rob and myself took an avalanche awareness class at Stevens Pass the day before. The class was great and definitely makes me feel a lot more comfortable hiking into the backcountry. Chris and I have been trying our hand at snow shoeing and also got our beacon/probe/shovel set. I can’t wait for Jackson Hole.
The track in the video is “Edge of Extremes” by Clubfeet.
I recently purchased a new action sports camera called the Drift Innovation HD170. Here are the results from a day of snowboarding at Stevens Pass with some friends. This was our first day up at Stevens of the season. It was also the second day the backside of the mountain was open.
